Sector Development
We define ‘sector development’ as activities and projects that support the growth and development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community housing providers in Queensland—encouraging their formation and/or their long-term sustainability.
Sector Development is very important to Housing Queensland. We continue to work closely with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community housing providers to identify what they need and what is relevant to their overall long-term success.

Sustainabilty
Housing Queensland works with a range of partners to develop interventions and programs that address issues such as:
- Improving corporate governance and strategic planning among ICHOs
- Assisting ICHOs to compete for funding to provide more local housing
- Addressing barriers and challenges to NRSCH registration for ICHOs
- Workforce planning including training provision and advice on recruitment from outside a geographic region
- Organisational planning and development.

We continue to engage frequently with the sector and assist individual members by listening to their needs and by helping them overcome organisational challenges so that the whole sector is strong and sustainable.
Our commitment to sector engagement and development has been demonstrated through our advocacy, sector development activities, publications and member engagement activities such as site visits, CEO communication and member events, newsletters and the ongoing development of sector resources.
